Default Which brand of rear rotors for 2012 Accord LX

Hi all,

Just bought a 2012 Accord that needs rear rotors..

The dealers and most online places have them for around $80 each except for honda.oempartsonline.com...they have $57.40.

Has anyone bought parts from this website or have other alternatives that the rotors won't rust and last like oem?

OEM rotors (not sure if that site is selling OEM stuff) or Brembo are decent brands.

The surface of the rotor should be relatively rust free where the brake pads drag. The rest of the metal can rust. Not sure how bad your rotors are.

For inspection purposes, do the rear caliper pistons operate properly? Even wear on the brake pads? Can the brake pads slide back and forth in the caliper bracket with little resistance?

Rotors rust, fact of life. That said, some, such as mid to higher end Centric rotors, have painted surfaces which delays the onset of rust. In the end they'll still get rusty.

Thanks...

I have not seen the condition of the rear rotors yet since I just bought the car, but the car salesman had their mechanic say that the rear brakes are 1/2 worn....and I know...seeing is believing.

But since the car has 73k miles, I believe the rear rotors are original, but again I still need to check.

The reason why I want to replace them is that they are warped. When I step on the brakes I can hear the typical sound and vibration of warped rotors. Plus I believe this contributes to a slight vibration I have at higher speeds.

My other reason for wanting OEM is because I have a 2014 Honda pilot w/ 80k and both front and rear rotors look great and are original...so I think OEM's have a higher nickel content to prevent rust over "cheaper" less expensive rotors.

I'm planning to buy these OEM rotors but look at the price...almost 1/2 the cost than at a dealer. Has anyone bought parts from them?

Don't waste your money, the mid to upper tier rotors from numerous brands are as good as, if not considerably better than the OEM rotors, but for less money.

Usually it is the front rotors on Hondas that cause vibration when braking at speed. I personally never had the rear rotors on my Hondas cause vibration when braking at high speed.

I agree....but I had them install new rotors are pads on the front.

You have to listen for it when you are braking, but I can apply the brakes, let off, then apply again, and I hear it coming from the back.

I mean it's not terrible, but I just want to iron everything out.

I already fixed 1 thing where I heard a creaking noise coming from the front driver side wheel, but it would only happen when I went over 40mph, driving over dips in the road...or taking a right hand turn.

I "thought" it was due to bushings, so I'm like great...now I have to take it back, complain, maybe they'll look at it, maybe they won't...now I'm stuck with it...

Well, it turned out to be a low hanging plastic cover in front of the driver side wheel. At speed, air would force it to hung low scraping the ground, thus causing the noise....zip tie fixed that.
