Default Breaking in a new engine

I just got a new 2008 accord, 4 cyl. have 2300 mles on it. my question is regarding oil changes. I am old school and would typically change the oil after the first 500 miles. I was told this is not the case with the newer vehicles. I should allow the indicatorread 15% and then preform the service. I want to do it now. I s there any harm?

Dude, congrats on your new Accord. If changing oil now makes you feel good and give you piece of mind, then go for it and get rid of those metal shavings.

When my car was brand new, the first oil change was about 2k miles. Now it has 276k miles and still running strong.

Go to filtermag.com and order yourself a magnet to go on your oil filter. I bought several and used them on both of my cars, and other family members.

With 2,300 miles already on it, it's pretty much done with the "break-in" so just start doing routine oil changes.

I picked up 3 filters today, and thanks for the tip on the magnet. That's a great idea.

wait wait wait.. i'm sure you've all heard about break-in oil. if not, it is the best oil that will ever be in your engine. i'd strongly recommend going at least 3,000 miles and at most 4,000 miles. then go ahead and do your every 3,000 changes as normal.
