Default Buying a '98 V6 Accord

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/1796514278.html

Hey all, I'm interested in purchasing this 1998 accord 2-door coupe off my local craigslist. 150k miles, full maintenance done at 100k miles. My main concern is the transmission issue that has plagued this generation. I have not test-driven the car yet. Hoping to go tomorrow to inspect the vehicle. What should I look for/listen for in terms of the tranny?

Hopefully they will have the full maintenance history so I will be able to see if there has been transmission problems in the past. If they havent had an issue with the tranny at this point, should I be concerned?

Anyway, thanks for the help. I know I'm the new guy around here.

The 98-02 V6 transmissions were known to fail prematurely. I even read that the replacement transmissions would fail.

I definitely advise your to spend the money to have a pre-sale inspection done by either a dealership or a shop that specializes in Hondas.

Maybe a local transmission shop could do a pre-sale inspection.

Suppose I check out the car and feel no problems shifting or transmission issues while driving, should I be concerned? I feel if the tranny made it 150K I should be alright?
