Default A/C Control Trouble

My 2001 Accord has 5 settings for the vents. 0 in which no air really blows out, 1 2 3 and 4. While driving tonight i noticed that setting 1,2 and 3 don't work. 4 works fine but it blows way to hard and is to loud to only have that option. All the other setting act as 0 acts. Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem could be? Can i fix it myself?
Please Help!!!

I'm confused.

Is the blower motor - the one that pushes air out of the vents - blowing. Are you saying it only works in the "high" setting?

Or is the vent control - dash, defrost, feet, ect - not changing or only changing to certain positions.

If it's the blower-speed setting, that's classic for a bad blower resistor (#7 in the picture).

Jim, now that I re-read this with more coffee I think your understanding of the issue is correct....that was one thought when I posted but wasn't awake enough.

I think if you remove the panel below the glovebox, you can see the bottom of the blower housing. Look above the left toes of the passenger, if you're lucky you might not even have to remove that panel.

not expensive at all. Relatively easy fix. but I think you have to pull out the glove box.
