Default A/C on, engine surging

Ive had my 2002 Accord Se for a few weeks. I needed to get the a/c recharged, just went and got it recharged today, and while driving home with the air on, i noticed the engine would surge about every 5-10. It revs up roughly another 300 rpm for a few seconds then drops back down to normal. Is that normal? If not, could someone tell me whats causing that?

Did this happen while driving at speed or at idle? If at speed, what happens when idling?

Not normal at idle or at speed.

ECU speeds up engine slightly, perhaps 50 rpm, to manage AC load at idle, but it's barely noticeable. I don't think there is any compensation once car is moving at speed.

good luck

It happens only while at speed, when sitting at an idle it seems no different, at least not that ive noticed.

After just taking it for another ride, i noticed that if i have the fan speed on 1, its fine, i feel no surging, but on 2,3, or 4 it does surge.
