Default A/C Has been fixed...

Alright well I took the car to a friend and he tested the pressure on the a/c. He said it was way to high and lowered to where it should be. The car was still blowing hot air but said the compressor was fine. The a/c lines were really cold and he said it should be cooling and said something else could be the problem. The **** to turn from hot-cold was not turning so I used another **** to turn it to cold and cold air begun to come out. I was happy. I was driving with it on full blast and I heard a noise like pressure was still being released but it has not done it since then.

I do notice however with the a/c on the rpms are a little lower then where they normally sit. Is this normal and if it isnt how can I fix it? Sorry for the long story.

This happen to me like a year ago, the problem was the mixer of hot and cold air, I believe first that the problem was the ac compressor, Just check this mixer can be stuck

I went ahead and cleaned the IAC valve (which was filthy...) and the rpms still seem to be the same. In park they are a little over 500. In drive and when driving they are at about 250 I wanna say and the lights dim. Any way to raise the idle and how do I do it?

Take a closer look at your tachometer. The first mark past 0 rpm is 500, then 750, then the big mark at 1000.

The gauge is missing the 250 rpm mark.

Let us know what rpms you are running at with and without a/c.

Oh ok I was reading it wrong. So the little mark (the first one past 0) is 500...
Without the a/c its at a little above 750 in park. Even without the a/c on the lights dim a little bit and the rpms are at 500, maybe a little higher, while in drive.

This could be caused by a number of problems.

When you had the a/c pressure checked, were both the high and low pressures tested? What rpm were you doing the test?

Ya im pretty sure both sides were checked. The rpms were bouncing from 500-750. Its not doing it anymore. Before I cleaned the IAC valve the car felt like it didnt want to go with the a/c on. Now it feels a little bit better but the lights dimming and the rpms that low are bothering me. Also that noise I had mentioned (sounds like air pressure being released) still happens but only when im driving and it doesnt happen all the time.

Google 96-012 honda pdf

The first link that pops up is a pdf. It will show you how to test the pressure on the a/c system.

Ya im pretty sure we tested it right. Followed most of the steps except the one that says to test it at 900rpms. We were just trying to figure out if the compressor was bad and he says it was just over charged. He also said the noise could be that it could still be a little overcharged and to take it back if the a/c is not cooling anymore.

The rpm is important, because the pressures will change at higher rpm. Then you will be sure if you are over or under charged.
