A/C problem on 2000 Accord
My problem is the ac unit will be working fine for weeks, then al of a sudden the the ac control lights will go off and the compressor, etc. shuts off, but the fan inside the car will continue to run. May stay off for 5 minutes, or 1 hour, than will come back on by itself.
Any Idea's where to look and there location?
Thanks in advance

When this happens, the AC control circuit (not compressor) is opening somewhere. When this circuit opens, the ECM disables the compressor by denying ground to AC relay.
There are a number of possibilities; AC diode, faulty AC switch, or faulty hi/lo pressure protection switch. Looking at wiring diagram, a faulty AC on/off switch seems most likely since light goes off when problem arises. It appears that only way for light to go off w/ AC switch is ON is a faulty switch. Heater control panel must be removed to access/test/replace this switch.
Above is based on manual AC control system, not Auto Temp Control.
good luck

I am not familiar w/ 2000 Accord and you can do a lot of damage by forcing parts. I would suggest looking at autozone.com for your vehicle repair manual for guidance. Perhaps someone else on this site can provide guidance.

Fix
You were spot on with the problem. To remove the center of the dash, it was 2 screws below the radio section, and 1 screw that was behind the dashboard clock. Just unplugged the old control unit, and replaced witha NIB factory unit ($255.) reassembled, and life is good again.

He has a 2000 Accord. That issue does not apply.
