I bought a spare key/remote for my 2006 Accord EXL/Navi. I've already programmed the keyless remote to work but still need to have the key cut and the security chip programmed. The dealer want 2 arms and a leg to cut and program the key. Is there an alternative or am I doomed to pay the dealers price to cut and program the chip? Is there a way to do this process without the dealers "magic" scantools?

 

You probably have to go to the dealer.

2003+ Accords use a Type 4 immobilizer that uses a rolling code program.

Some locksmiths can cut keys and program them for the 2002 earlier cars; but, probably won't have the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) Software Package to program newer keys.
