Default Car sputters at about 30-40 mph. but not all the time!

It seems like a vacuum leak but, you can mash the accelerator and it will push through the sputtering. Once you are above the 30-40 mph range it rides smooth. And also some times the transmission seems to dis-engage and rpms go up. Then you release gas and the transmission re-engages. Kinda weird. Not sure what to do. Oh by the way its a 1991 honda accord f22a 4cyl. Sohc sedan dx

IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANKS

Trans jumping out of gear, check the fluid level and condition....

Are there any stored codes, worth a check....paper clip and a bit of time.

For the "sputter", instead of MPH can you relate or notice what RPM range this is in. Also note if this happens only once the car is warm=normal op temp.

Are the normal tune up items up to date?
