CAT CONV.-CHECK ENGINE LIGHT
Hello everyone.
My 99 ex v6 sedan has 74,000 miles on it. Not too long ago, I floored the accelerator when the streets were wet, to avoid being in an accident. This caused significant tiring spinning and the engine rev'd pretty high. Immediatley after, the check engine light came on. I took it to my mechanic who checked it out and cleared the codes. I think he said there was a misfire and something with the caty. The light has since come on and I took it to the honda dealership. They said there were two codes. They said it needed a new caty. converter. It is now getting a new catalytic conveter. Honda is paying for this as it was covered up unti 80,000 miles (I just made it).
However, the guy at Honda said the other code was showing that I have a evap leak, so they need to replace the cvs valve (at a cost of $286.65). I have looked on the net and can't find any info about a cvs valve. Does anybody know about this cvs valve? Also, I know that it is important to figure out why the caty. failed? Anybody have any guesses? Thanks.
