Cat converter heat shield
I have an 04 V6 Accord... There has been some rattling while driving recently, only when in motion. After doing some poking around, I found that the heat shield for my right cat converter is badly rusted and have falling off.... however I'm having a hard time finding just the heat shield I dont need to buy an entire new cat converter. Is it ok just to cut off the heat shield and leave it like that? Otherwise any advice how to get it fixed without getting a new cat converter?
Is this the heat shield on the front bumper side of the engine, firewall side of the engine, or the converter on the bottom of the car that is parallel with the ground?
A temp fix is to get a big hose clamp for a dryer vent and tighten the heatsheld down and hold it in place. This worked on my TSX for years before I bought new ones from the Acura dealership.
