so here are all of the symptoms my 1991 accord ex is giving me. if the car sits for a good amount of time (6 hours or longer) to get the car to start back up you need t opump the gas while cranking and prevent it from stalling. when acceleratign when the tach needle gets to around 3k the tach starts bouncing around all crazy on the tach like sometimes all the way to 8 and back and forth even if you are very smooth revving the accelerator. if the car has been running recently it will start up just fine. i have replaced distributor cap/rotor, plugs/wires, coolant temp sensor, pcv valve, battery, icm, and fuel filter. i do know there is a huge hole in the muffler right now but am getting that replaced (would backpressure cause a no start problem like this). also when driving around you can smell gas inside the car.(maybe hole in muffler)?

 

I would start with the gas leak. If you live in a state where they use salt in the winter and cars rust I would look at the fuel line under the car first then inspect the rest of the fuel system for leaks.
