Just registered here and was wondering if theres any way to tell why my maintenance engine light came on in my 04 accord? Can autozone or advanced auto pull a code or something for me or do i have to go to the dealer? Also, I wasn't sure, is the maintenance required light the same thing as a CEL light?

Assuming it is the maintenance light and not a check engine light it is programmed to turn onat certain mileages.It's a reminder to change oil or whatever serviceis due at the time.You can turn it off by holding in the odometer reset button and turning the ignition switch to "on". In 10 seconds or less the light will go off until the next time.

The check engine light can be serious and is entirely seperate.

 

alright thanks... I double checked to make sure it was the maintenance light... I wasnt sure if accords had a seperate CEL light... its actually my fiancee's car....
