Question Charging light on but ...

Hello all,
My charging light flickered then was steady on in my 1991 Accord LX. I installed a new alternator and the battery is less than 6 months old, but tested good. I measured the charging voltage on the battery terminals when engine was at idle and headlights on 14.28 volts, even though the charging light is on.

Now whenever I have a load on the batter, such as headlights or even stop lights, the charging light comes on. It also comes on when the engine goes below 1500 rpm.

Any ideas what could it be?

Thank you.

A

Did you test the old alt?

Happen to have abs on this car?

The #2 15amp fuse (dash fuse panel) is good?

Poorman212,

Unfortunately I did not test the old alternator. I put the new one in without testing.
I do not have ABS and all the fuses in the dash fuse panel (driver side next to the left foot rest) are good.

Thank you

What amp is the alternator? My car was doing the same thing under load. turned out the alt was going bad. replaced the battery and replaced the old alt with a 95 amp, and I havnt had a problem since.
