Default check engine light

I have a 2000 Honda Accord 4 cyl. with about 98.8K miles on it. The check engine light went on recently and I took it to Autozone they said I have error code P1271, the mechanic there thinks it is variable valve timing (bank 1), he isn't 100% sure because there isn't a listing for Honda on his code checker. What do you guys say the problem is?

Autozone doesn't employ mechanics.

He gave you the wrong code, that code is not valid.

+1. Like Dr. D stated it is not valid for your model year (e.g., 2000 Accords don't have Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensors).

every time i have a customer on the shop with this code only is because 1. don't change oil regularly .2 never check the oil level , in most cases a LOF fix this problem

That is a problem with the Vtec.

Vtec runs off of oil pressure, so the first thing to do is check your oil level.

Do you have a volt meter?
