Default Check Engine Light Issue

I just recently purchased A 94 Accord Ex coupe with the 2.2 vtec. The check engine light was on and I ran the diagnostics and it came back vtec oil pressure switch. I replaced the switch and started the car. The check engine light went off and after a few seconds of driving it came back on. I ran diagnostics again and the light just stayed solid. I don't know what else it could be... Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

If you don't have the Honda service manual, go the the DIY "sticky" above to download it for troubleshooting. That code doesn't necessary just mean a problem with the vtec oil pressure switch.

You can test the vtec solenoid valve and clean or replace the filter screen for the solenoid valve, etc.

If that's the case would it cause a solid check engine light in diagnostic mode?

No. It sounds like something may be up with your ECU.

Did the check engine light turning on happen only once, or does it keep happening? Check the ECU fuse (10 amp) and the backup/radio fuse (7.5 amp in engine bay fuse box).

The solid check engine light in diagnostic mode may mean the ECU is in safe mode. Try resetting the ECU by pulling the ECU back-up fuse (7.5A) in the underhood fuse/relay box; or disconnecting the negative battery cable for a short while.

Default Check engine light reset

I recently had this problem with my 94 accord vtec and got the check engine light to reset by reseting the maintenance button (using the car key) on the dashboard. Pulling the fuses didn't work but the dashboard reset did! Give it a try if you are still having this problem.
