I went ahead and removed all six plugs including the two forward ones. I was wondering about cleaning the "crossover" port passages as shown in step 9 here: http://hondadude.webs.com/98-074EGR.gif
I guess I'd just try to bend a coat hanger size wire or something similar and try to work it in there as far as I can? It's unclear to me how I'd be able to clean thoroughly through the passage, probably can't really get the wire fished all the way through the way it's shown in that step. Comments?

You need flexibility and strength. An old guitar string (large E string) works good, but don't get cute and try to attach to a drill or you may leave a piece stuck inside (guess how I know?).

A piece of speedometer cable would be another good option.

good luck

I'm wracking my brain now -- from where oh where can I acquire one of those things? Nobody I know plays the guitar and there are no junkyards here.
The hunt is on. Thanks TexasHonda.

Now that you've mentioned it, at my workplace we've got several small diameter sizes of steel cable (wire rope). And some picture hanging wire but I think it's not really strong (rigid) enough. I'll give those a try. And if it works I'll post back with pictures and maybe we can come up with an appropriate name for it too. Thanks poorman212.

Okay I'm unclear on which directions, between which port holes are the "crossover" passages I'm trying to fish a wire through anyway. Any of these directions?

Here is a better copy of the Honda TSB, so you can see the cleaning directions better.
