Default Cleaning your engine area.

So I would like to cleanup my engine area. Everyone knows how dirty it gets under the hood. I was wondering how to go about doing this...can I just use any degreaser and some water and start cleaning or is there a different procedure. I use Mean Green within the house would that be ok to use?

I would like to clean the area just because and because I have an oil leak. The mechanic said it was a small leak and nothing to worry about and it looked like it was coming from the oil pressure switch. After going under my car yesterday, I felt like it wasn't a small oil like. Nothing was dripping when I was working on it, but seems like oil dripped everywhere but that could just be caused by a small leak over time. Anyway...any suggestions are helpful.

I spray my engine off at the car wash all the time (let the engine cool off while I do the outside first). I would spray some degreaser on the oil, then spray it all off.
