I broke down and took my car to the dealership. I have a code 43 that periodically pops up. They used the mastertech on it and said that code 43 was held in the history codes (after 30 drive cycles), and not as a recent code. The problem is that the code popped up this morning. Do you think I have an ECU problem?

They said that the fuel trim, etc was fine, although my car gets around 200 miles to a full tank (14 gallons, ~14mpg). My car gets about 400 miles on the interstate (use to get close to 500 miles per tank) Does anyone have any suggestions?

They also said that I have 3 bent rims and three bad tire belts. The tires aren't even a year old. The shop that I use to install the tires is an excellent shop and would have told me about that. I will take my car to that independent tire shop and get a second opinion.

I do a pretty good job of keeping my car well maintained.

the rims must be badly bent to cause tire belt distortion.
What is code 43? I would expect your car to get at least 22-24 mpg

The manual calls out "fuel supply system" however that is a false name of the code.
The real definition is oxygen sensor reading unburned oxides.

Look for any reason the engine might be running rich, old plugs, fuel press reg diaphram leak, nasty air filter, and don't discount a lazy O2 sensor.

 

Its most likely your oxygen sensor. When I got that code on my civic it ended up being the fact that I ran out of injector(built motor,stock injectors)and everytime I would womp on it I would get the code.
