I'm in the process of removing the rocker arm assembly. Is it possible to do without removing the distributor and the timing belt? I'd like to leave the cam shaft in place. The manual says loosen the valve adjustment screws and then remove the bolts(?). Then it says not to remove the cam hold down bolts (but they are holding the rocker assembly).

(I know this is a newbie question, but we're in no hurry for the car and I'd like to learn.)

Well, got the rocker assembly off. Upon closer inspection, the valve doesn't move easily.... It looks like it's time to remove the head. What a PITA.

Once I have the head off and the new valve ordered, I'd like to have all the valve seats looked at. Where should I take it? The dealer or a machine shop?

Thanks.

My local Honda dealer sends out the heads for repair to a local auto parts which has no machine shop (The Honda dealer doesn’t know) and they then send it to a machine and the dealership marks up the price as does the auto parts. I found this out talking to the auto parts about my head on the phone as he couldn’t answer my questions and let me know who actually does their heads. I would say a machine shop.
