Default Continue my 98 Honda Accord dashboard cluster nightmare.

Finally got around to replacing my turn-signal/windshield wiper switch, but this did not resolve my short circuit problem in my gauge cluster.

Most of the lights in the gauge cluster do not work, e.g., speedometer does not have a back light, but most of the "drive lights" work, except when the switch to turn on the headlights, then the lights go off.

Where do to look to next? Checking the obvious, i.e., replaced the cluster and the lights, but still having problems. The lights on my gear shift are also out.

Not a electrician or very inclined to search for faulty meter reads, so how much would one expect to pay to have this fixed?

Thanks,

I suspect you will pay $100-$200 depending on how good tech is at locating electrical faults.

Suggest checking dimmer assy and under-dash grounds closely.

good luck

What do the under dash grounds look like? Are they just the black ground wires that I'm looking for, and maybe checking to see if they're disconnected?

Thanks,

One should be located behind kick panel on drivers side bolted to body.

There should be 5 on pax side, but they don't appear to service the gauge panel.

Look for removed grounds or damaged wires.

good luck
