Default Cooling fan comes on when ignition is turned to “ON” position (not started).

My engine cooling fan comes on as soon as i turn the key to the “ON” position without turning it to start. Any ideas on what might cause this? I don’t want my fan motor to burn out. Any help would be appreciated!

I’ve also saw posts on here where the fan stays on even if the ignition key is off. My fan at least shuts off when the key is turned to the “OFF” position.

***Update. I removed the cooling fan relay. and the fan still comes on. I also removed the condenser fan fuse and the cooling fan fuse but the fan still comes on. I also removed the fan-switch wire beside the upper radiator hose and the fan still comes on.

Turn off the a/c on the center console and let us know if the fan shuts off.

A/C was not on, but i did change the oil and the problem is now solved. I’m not sure what happened. Very strange.

If the a/c is shut off and the problem returns, then you will next unplug the green two wire connector near the thermostat housing and let us know what happens.
