Cooling fan stays on

no I havent tried that, How would the fan come on if sensor itself is shorted. dont I need to short the wires to send signal? Thanks

Yes, you take a paperclip or little piece of wire, and short between the 2 wires that connect to that switch.

I will try that, I did that to the top sensor by the thermost tat house and fan came on. So what happens if fan kicks on when I short out?

This is on a 1989 Accord with the A-series engine? Parts of the thread sound like the F-series engine with fan-switches at the thermostat?

Actually I was confused with post #13 talking about the sensor on the thermostat housing. I thought the 1989 car didn't have a fan switch in the T-stat housing.

Yes, my 1989 I am pretty sure only has one electrical temp sensor on the bottom of radiator, which related to the fan coming on. (there are three 'thermovalves' which are vacuum controlled...)

To answer your question, if the car is hot, and the fan does not come on, but then you short the sensor (bottom of radiator) and the fan does come on, then this sensor is not working and needs to be replaced. Not sure about the issue with the fan staying on after car is off, but at least if this sensor is working the car will not be in danger of overheating.

Im still fighting this if anymore Ideas. Fan comes on when engine is warm and shutdown, It will run until radiator is cool.

My 94 will do that, I come home shut the car off, the fan will kick on runs until its happy and shuts off. I thought they were supposed to do that.
