crank seal & TB replacement costs
07 accord EX-L 108K mi. Still runs as smooth as it did at 5 mi. Dealer gave me printout showing rear crank seal and timing belt are worn and need replacing. Their quote was $2800. Just curious if that's a fair price in SE Va? Can these repairs wait a couple of months?

I take it this is a V-6?? Because the 4-cyl from that year doesn't have a timing belt.
The timing belt is due at about 105k miles, so YES I would do that one. The rear seal is more of a judgement. How much oil is leaking from there?

Assuming you have a V6 engine:
- Unless your dealer can prove to you that rear seal is leaking after only 105,000 miles I'd tell him to pound sand; sounds like he's trying to fatten his bottom line at the expense of your wallet. My suggestion would be to find a different dealer.
- Your dealer is a crook and you should, A) report him to Honda of North America and the BBB, and B) find yourself a different dealer.

If the rear seal was actually leaking, it would make a puddle of oil directly underneath the point where the transmission attaches to the engine. At the very least the underside of the engine would get oily if it's a slow leak. Lots of people tolerate slow leaks for a long time, but 2007 is kinda new for a leaky seal.
You are the one person who can look for oil underneath your car.
