Front Crank seal replacement 2000 EX 2.3
While having the clutch replaced, the mechanic found that the front crank seal on my 2000 Accord is leaking. I don't believe it can be leaking bad because I have not seen any oil on the driveway. How difficult is it to replace and should I change the timing belt at the same time. Honda quoted me $500.00 to replace.
Yes you have to remove the timing belt I order to replace it. If The Honda quote includes replacing the timing belt and water pump then that is a fair price, if the quote does not include the timing belt, water pump and drive belts, then the price is high if it is just the seal.
The price is just to replace the seal.
Can I just keep an eye on it and replace it when it begins to leak more?
No oil on the ground where I park, so it seems that only at speed I lose oil.
I've been watching it and I estimate I lose 1/2 quart every 1000 miles.
