Default Crankshaft pulley bolt again

1999 Accord EX, with 2.3l VTEC, trying to remove the crankshaft pulley. Took it to Honda shop to loosen the pulley bolt, they refused to tighten below 250nm for safety reasons. However they losened and retorqued to spec, they said.

I put a 650lb-ft torque wrench to it, the air up to 120psi, it's rounding the bolt head but no budge. Have the hex tool to keep pulley from moving. Tried 19mm socket with 18" breaker bar, but I'm reading people using 3-4' pipes - so I don't stand much chance with my breaker bar.

My question is, is the bolt losening counterclockwise?? I remember reading that somewhere in this forum, don't seem to find that post.

Please help.

Yes, bolt loosens CCW. It is a real challenge. I've had luck w/ a good breaker bar and 3-4' cheater pipe, and a good air impact (Ingersol Rand rated about 600 ft-lbs).

It can take quite a bit of hammering w/ air impact to break. Don't use any extensions w/ air impact as this reduces the peak torque. Air impact should not round the head of bolt if you're using a 19mm impact hex socket. Don't use a 12-pt socket for sure.

Some have had luck w/ heating the bolt w/ propane or acetylene torch.

good luck

X2 on the Ingersol Rand 600 ft.lb. double hammer with integrated silencer impact .... mine took 5 seconds.
