Default Cruise Control 97 EX

Hey guys I replaced the 2.2 vtech in my 97 and now my cruise control doesn't work. When I was lowering the engine back in the car it did hit something on the firewall next to the cruise control section under the hood. The switch on the dash works and the light in the cluster comes on but the cruise does not engage. Any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks.

most common things first, make sure that your throttle cable is properly adjusted, then check that your brake switch (top of the brake pedal) is set properly as well (fully disengaged with foot off the brake).

Any CEL on or ANYTHING else on the car operating in a strange matter?

It is possible to mis-rig the throttle actuator. I would apply vacuum directly to see if actuator is functioning.

Another possibility is the M/T clutch switch or A/T shift position console switch is not supplying a closed signal to the cruise control unit.

I would download the shop manual from Online Manuals DIY and go through the actuator tests.

good luck
