okwhen its really darn cold out, like it is now. has anybody ever experienced their cruise control not wanting to work? ok until my car is thouroughly warmed up. im not just talking temp gage up im talking a good 20 min of driving. my cruise wont hold. ill set the cruise at like 65 and it will drop down to like 40 or so b4 it picks back up. even with the accel button pushed in. after a bit of driving its works "normally" durring the warm months i don't have this situation. bc its more of an annoyance than a problem. but i like to use my cruise on my way home from work at night bc the hwy i drive home is loaded with cops, the limit is 55 and i got pulled over on sat!

 

this sounds like it can be vacuum related. the cruise runs off vacuum on your car, so a cracked vacuum line may not be as leaky when it's warm and soft vs hard and cold.

 

that's normal becuase the torque converter does not egage until the engine is at proper operating temp on the automatics and the cruise will not work until the trans tq converter is allowed to engage.

 

yeah thats alot simpler than what i was thinkin. ill look into that

 

i've never heard of cruise control not working because the car isn't warm enough. ???

ill look at the vacuum lines. i was thinking tho that the "cruise controller thingy" (got to love my technical lingo) opperates a secondary throttle cable that attatches to be throttle body along side the one from the pedal. could a lil bit of moisture get in the cable and cause it to stick? its probly vacuum related but just an idea. what vacuum lines should i be lookin for/at?

 

Neither have I and I have 6 cars with cruise, and I live in Ohio where we have cold weather and -well ...either have I

I experience this with my 92 Accord ... the colder it is, the more difficult to get the cruise to engage. What happens is I will hit 120 km/h and hit the cruise on... when I remove my foot from the gas pedal, the car will decelerate to about 90 or 100 km/h and then set... I then must increase the accelerated through the cruise again. When it is warmer I do not have this issue. I have just lived with it.

 

Same thing happens with my 93 Accord when it's cold
