Default Cure Time?

My car just got painted and i'd like to know how long it takes to cure...2 weeks?...3 weeks?...how long?

And can I wash it at all like just rinsing dust off with a water hose?

I'm not sure about the exact cure time but the last time I had a shop paint anything on my car I asked how long I should wait before doing any waxing or anything. They said that they bake the paint to cure and I could do whatever I wanted. I, personally, would wait at least a month before doing any waxing. You should be fine to rinse off any dust with water (rain would do the same) but if you have to do any scrubbing use the softest thing you can find. I'm sure someone on here could recomend something for that.

I think it depends a lot on the type of paint system they use. The shop I've gone to uses a catalyzed paint (2-part mix like Epoxy). They say there's not nearly that much of a cure time. A matter of hours or maybe a day or 2.

If it was baked you can awsh and wax as you would normally.

If is was air dried, it'll take about 4 weeks for all the solvents to evaporate before waxing or sealing. If you wax or seal too soon, it traps the solvents and the paint, whether it's single stage or two stage, will dull and become cloudy. If this happens, it'll have to be re-buffed at a minimum.
