Default CV joint??

My car has been making a "clank" sound going at slow speeds or turning at slow speeds from the right side and it only happens when i turn to the right. I think is probably the right CV joint that is worn. what do you think i should do, replace the CV joint or axle whatever his name is and relube and put new boots on the left one, or should i replace them both?? (left one seems to be working just fine).

Another thing, yesterday i went to pep boys to see for how much they would do the job and told me that 75 dollars for CV joint, 208 for labor on both cv joints.

Any thoughts or opinions?? by the way the car has 148XXX

The price sounds about right, I'd only replace the one that is causing problems..... I'd suggest either do it yourself or if you are going to have a mechanic do it then make them ride in the car with you before they do the work and see if they confirm your suspections

you can just replace the one for now if the other is not making noise, as for price I did this same thing a few months ago and just bought a half shaft from the local parts store for $65 bucks, install requires some work but its not that hard, when you put the new one in push all the way till it clicks

If the boot is still fully in tact (not cracked or really dried out) then there is no need to change it, if it is cracked however then I would just change the boot otherwise no need to mess with it

ok guys so i took the car to pep boys and asked them to check the car out before replacing the CV joint. the mechanic could not find anything wronf with the car, the only thing he thinks is making the noise is the aftermarket suspension. he then told me that i should get a second opinion so how much will they charge me at honda to check my car out?
