cv joint/axle
My neigghbor asked me if I could replace the driver's side cv axle on his 96 Accord LX (4cyl,non-VTEC, no ABS, auto trans). I bought the part last night, but having no experience doing this job on this model car, I thought it would be a good idea to ask here if there is anything I need to know about undertaking this job. Any help would be appreciated.
p.s.-- I tried to search for some help with this, but was unsuccessful.

Well, I find it the easiest to:
- Remove the castle nut on the tie rod balljoint, then separate the joint from the knuckle.
- Remove the 36mm with a 36mm wrench (discount tool shop, $10). Make sure the other wheel is on the ground and stand on the wrench.
- Take the lower bolt out of the strut fork and possibly the pinch bolt where the strut and fork meet. This will help get the axle through the fork easier.
It can be a quick job or a never ending job, depending on how lucky you get with sliding the axle out.

perfect and easy way to get the steering knuckle off the lower control arm. just jack it up and stick a wrench in between the control arm and steering knuckly let down the jack and the wrench will get stuck in place then give a good kick to the rotor pushing down and it will pop right off the balljoint. then the knuckle can be easily lifted out of the control arm.
works soo much better then using a fork and screwin up your ball joints

Truth! Everytime I use a pickle fork to separate a joint, it just tears the boot. I usually tap the joint out of the socket with a hammer.
