Default CV Joint replacement

I just replaced the CV joint and brake pads as well as cut the brakes rotors. Now the steering wheel shakes at 50. Previously no shakes until 80. I wasn't checking in on the install so am assuming they installed everything right. I've done tons of brake jobs myself and the never caused a shake so I am assuming it's the CVJ. I doubt the shake is caused by out of balance tires (not at 50 at least). Is getting an alignment a typical procedure after replacing the CVJ?

I would check to see if your tires are out of balance first. It would be easy for a weight to get knocked off when they are removing or installling your tires. Then I would check you ball joints. If they pulled the axle it they had to undo the lower ball joint.

I just thought of another thing. If you want to do a quick check to see if it is the tires rotate them and if the vibration goes from the steering wheel to the seat you know it is the tires.

I'll get them rebalanced as they are due for them as well as rotation. Curious, what am I looking for on the ball joints? Thanks
