Default does brake idiot light mean bad rotors?

I checked the brake fluid and its good. I unpluged the wires to the brake fluid cap and still the brake light comes on when I put the car in gear. It came on a few weeks ago and has been on ever since when the car is not in park or neutral. The parking brake works fine and itsnot on.Is there a chance that bad rotors will set off the light? I just changed the brake pads because I thought that might be the problem but no help.

Possible a bad switch on the e-brake lever? Sounds like you already checked all the options I was going to say.

Betcha one of the brake lamp bulbs is blown. Have someone press on the brakes as you stand at the back of the car.

If no brake lamp is out, it could be one of the following: A bad master cylinder cap, a faulty float (attached to MC cap), or the filter inside the master cylinder (has been upgraded by Honda.)
Type in "brake light" in the search engine and you should find a few threads on this.

Don't confuse the different warning lamps. If it's got anything to do with brake light bulbs, the warning lamp will say "Brake Lamp" (not just 'brake').

Its not the "brake lamp" light its the one that says brake. So its not the taillights.

FYI: the brake light will not come on if your rotors or pads are worn out. There is no sensor on them to cause the light to come on that I am aware of.

I'm kinda new to Hondas, but I thought the basic brake light indicated a differential in the hydraulic system (or hand brake)??
