Default Does your car use any oil??

Hi - I was wondering if anybodies vehicle uses any oil between changes? I've got an '09 V6 Accord with 54,000 miles and can add about 1/2 a quart in between changes which is app. 4,000 miles. I'm running 5W/20 Mobil 1 Synthetic since my first change. I know I change it early for Synthetic I just always have. Is this normal should the car be using this already at 54,000 miles? I'm told (just by friends) it probably shouldn't be using Synthetic as easily as it may conventional oil so that has me a bit concerned, is this true? Thanks..

Nothing to worry about; engines should use some oil and yours sounds about right.

Not a big deal IMO, but if you are using 5w-20 you could try switching to 5w-30, just to see if it consumes less.

my '92 four cylinder at 210,000 - I add about 1/2 qt every 2000 miles.
I change ~3,000 mile interval, except in winter more often.
