My drivers side door has a bad lock. The problem got worse gradually with time. First it was difficult to turn the key in order to lock the door and/or open it. Than later, it would only turn when the emergency GRAY key was used. Now, nothing works and even the extra grey key that came with the car isn't working.
Am I stuck with a dealer ripping me off, or do i have an alternative to do it myself ????
I ve been leaving my car opened, or sometimes use the the passenger side to open it up, and reach from the inside to open the drivers side. Its a pain.

A locksmith should be able to replace the tumblers, so you original key will still work.

 

I am going through a similar problem with my 2005 Honda accord . I have at least two problems with my drivers side door. The key less remote will not lock or unlock the door, the problem got worse gradually with time, so I must use the key all the time now. And then the key lock (tumbler) started to feel not so well, and I thought something was falling apart inside. So I took a stab, and applied 3 in 1 oil on my key, putting the key in and out several time with oil on it. It started to work great! I still have the key less remote door will not lock and unlock issue. Any ideas on this would be helpful.
