Default Door Locking Mechanism

On my 2003 Honda Accord DX, I damaged the latch that locks the door to the car body (a photo is attached). All I did is push it down a bit, and now it is locked down, and the door does not shut or lock anymore. This is a manual lock system (not central lock). Is there a way to release the latch back to its normal position?

Have you tried using your key in the door cylinder to unlock it?

The key does not work which is how I got in this mess in the first place. I was trying to fix the lock.

You may have to remove the door panel to check it out. One of the latch rods may have gotten detached or something. Usually when the specific rod is pulled up, the latch releases. Many times it is better to just replace the latch, because you don't want it to malfunction and can't open the door either.
