Default Driver side mirror problem 2000 EX/5MT

My driver side mirror goes up and down, but not in and out. When it began, it wouldn't do anything, but now it does go up and down. I moved it in and out by hand to attempt to get it unstuck or whatever without any success.

When you have your own problem, best to start a new thread.

We need to know what year/trim Accord to help.

good luck

It may be a bad left-right mirror motor (there are two motors inside the power mirror), problem with the power window switch, or wiring.

Pull out the driver's door switch control assembly.

Disconnect the power window switch 10P gray connector.

Use one jumper wire to connect cavity terminal no. 1 to terminal no. 7.

Use another jumper wire to cavity terminal no. 9 and the other end of the jumper to body ground.

With the ignition switched ON, the driver mirror should swing left. If not, it probably is a bad left-right motor. If the mirror works properly, then it may be the switch.

If it is the left right motor, the only fix would be a new mirror?

Generally yes, if it is the left-right motor, the fix is replacement of the mirror.

However, like most things, if you took things apart, there may be a way to replace the motor by improvising yourself. But, cost/benefit always is a consideration vs. just outright replacement of a bad part.

The repair has been performed and we have success. I removed the cover, unplugged the 10P connector, sprayed contact cleaner on the wires, reinstalled the connector, turned on the ignition switch and voila. Now the mirror goes in/out, up/down. Thanks alot for your schematic. I can't tell you how many times, the people on this site have solved my problems.

Good to hear a resolution being just dirty contacts.
