Maybe try to drop it down to d3 or start at d1 and shift it up? I know when I drop from d4 to d3 it goes faster up hills.

i drive an '06 civic with an automatic and one thing i do to accelerate faster is i let off the gas a bit when i know the engine is about to shift gears and then press back down on the gas after the rpms drop. this way it shifts faster and at lower rpms than if i just held the pedal down constantly. i've never tried it on an accord but i imagine it would work the same.

I'm not sure are your car but some vehicles have and O/D switch... turn that off if it does....

I notice a difference when I roll on the gas rather than mashing it (from takeoff). When rolling, I usually go down to D3 on the highway.
