Default E-Brake on dash intermittent, Accord 95

Hi Gurus,

I have noticed these following things with the dash board E-Brake light

Please note it happens only on a rainy day

on a rainy day, i am driving, everything is good, suddenly

E-Brake light turns on, it stays on, after a while it dims out (doesn't go away), then glows fully, then dims out then disappears. sometimes on the same day (Rainy)while Driving it tries to glow but dims poorly and struggles to glow as if there is a short of lines.

I am not sure where to start the checking. Please help

Note: Fluid level in master cylinder ok

The "BRAKE" indicator lamp issue can be caused by either:

  • brake fluid level switch intermittently stuck closed; providing ground to circuit
  • parking brake switch intermittently stuck closed; providing ground to circuit
  • faulty bulb check circuit (built into gauge assembly)
  • intermittent short in wiring or circuit

This is a description of how the bulb check works:

With the ignition switch in START (III), and clutch pedal depressed or A/T gear selector in PARK (P) or NEUTRAL (N), voltage is applied through fuse 9 to the bulb check circuit. The bulb check circuit closes, allowing current to flow through the brake indicator system indicator light and bulb check circuit to ground. The brake system indicator light then comes on to test the bulb.

The ground for the bulb check circuit comes from G404 (located behind the front center console area).

Edit: A short on the Blu/Red power wire from fuse 9 or at the bulb check circuit can also cause it to light up.
