Default Electrical/Charging system trouble

1990 Honda Accord EX

For the last couple of Months my headlights would go dim and then bright while driving. The other day my radio turned off, all my dash gauges went to zero, but the car stayed running. This happened a couple of times. I drove my truck for the next 2 days. When I tried to start the Honda it would not turn over.

I jumpstarted the car and while running cold the voltage was 14 V. After about 10 minutes the car started idling rough and voltage was 12.3 V and dropping.
I installed a new battery and had the same results 12.3 V with rough idle.

I took out the alternator and original battery and took them to AutoZone for testing. They said the alternator was good and the battery was bad. This doesn't make sense because I have the same result with the known good battery.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've read about an ELD issue. Would that cause these symptoms?

Just me but it sounds like a bad alt?

Yes, you take it off the car and test it but they test it for all of one minute and at the same time you say it is fine in the car for 10 min.

Were your readings from the charge post on the alt or just at the battery?

I'm thinking a new volt reg in the alt and life will be good......but more TESTING is needed.
