Default charging system

Hi Folks ,
My boy has a fine 1988 Accord DX with a meager 130,000 miles on it, and well he was having a charging system problem, 11 volts across the positive when running. Well he purchased a rebuilt unit and we installed it all was fine for a day or two and now he has an intermitant charging light, which we never had before . anyway I ran through the diagnosis and when we got to the unhook choke heater the light went out, but when you test the heater it tests good . any thoughts it appears to be charging and runs just fine but still intermitant light, seems to go out after idling awhile . I'm at a loss any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
fred
