Howdy..

I have a 2000 Honda Accord 4cyl with many trans. I've just replaced the IAC. Before replacing it the engine light came on so I thought the light would go away after IAC replacement (it did when IAC was replaced on my Odyssey). So I took it to Autozone to get the computer codes and it came up with code P0131 and P0505. I have not driven the Accord but 5 miles since the IAC was replaced. My question should I drive it a little longer to see if light goes out or should I focus on the engine codes a bit more?? The research I've done indicates the P0505 code has to do with IAC and the P0131 may be due to oxygen sensor and/or catalytic converter.

p.s. the car sat in my garage for at least a year with one or two cranks during that time.

 

So when they scanned it, did they clear them?

 

Thanks...the codes were not cleared. The engine light remains on. Will clearing the codes clear the engine light?

 

I'd want to know what has been fixed. The 505 could be gone but the 131 is still causing the issue. So I would have them cleared, then re-schek. At least then you would know what is left to test.

 

Thanks for your response...sorry but I may have confused you...before the idle air control valve was replaced the engine light was present...after the IAC was replaced the engine light was still there...I never checked the codes before the IAC was replaced...I assume the engine light would away after IAC was replaced.
