Engine swap help!!
I have a 1998 sedan V6 that I love but the engine is getting tired, I purchased a 2000 coupe V6 that has a engine with much less miles but I'm wondering if the engine from the 2000 will bolt right into the 98 easily or will there be more to it than that? The only noticeable change I see is the 2000 has coil packs and the 98 is a j series... Any advice I can get would be amazing!
The block should be the same. You'll need to remove the coils, then install the distributor/wires from the 98 to the new block. There are other items that may need to be transferred from the 98 block to new block.
You won't be able to without changing at the very least the wiring harnesses and the ECU, and doing so could cause a whole host of other unintended consequences. By far your best bet is to retrofit the new engine to your older car and not the other way around.
