Default exhaust issues

i just got a 97 accord from my ex-wife. 270,000 miles. auto, 4 cylinder

when i got it, the exhaust had broken in half at the resonator....and was pretty loud.

i straight piped it from about 2 feet behind the cat to the flex joint, welded all the seams. also put on a new muffler. i replaced the donut gasket at the junction from the manifold down pipe, and replaced the manifold gasket too(it had a leak in the corner).

my problem is, car is still kinda loud when revved. at idle, it doesnt really make any unexpected noise. riding down the road, it gets loud and vibrates a little between 28-3100 rpms. after that, its smooth as glass.

anyone fixed this demon before?

Try a different muffler, mine has no resonater on it but is still pretty quiet. as far as the rattling goes check for missing/broken hangers and check the heat shield around the cat.

Mine had a rattle to it at certain rpms and ended up being the heat shield
