i just bought this 98 v6 with a cel on.i had it scanned and it said master malf. egr system. so i cleaned the ENTIRE egr system and ran a fuel system cleaner through it as well(i work at express oil change) i reset the light and drove it home and the light came back on about 2 miles from home. when accelerating it would hit a rev limiter at 3k rpm in drive or park.i also noticed vtec wasnt working and checked and changed the oil and noticed the pressure switch connector was broken off. any ideas whats causing the false rev limiter?is it in limp mode? thanks for any thoughts or advice

 

Certain CEL error codes can put it into limp-home mode, but for the V6 I'm not sure which ones can do that. Fix that pressure switch & see...

 

thanks for the reply.i put a pressure switch in today out of a 4cyl and reset the cel.so far it runs great
