Fan Switch problem
I have a 2002 Accord LX 4 door 4 Cyl. with 75,000 miles (first honda) The Fan switch for heat?ac
will not work in the first two speeds. Only at setting 3 and 4 will fan blow air. Can this be repaired? or must the whole control panel need to be replaced? Thanks. Tom |
RE: Fan Switch problem
typically it's just the switch itself, you can test it by pulling the panel out, switch it to one of the first settings and see if any power is going out, if power is going out then it's a sensor at the blower motor (highly unlikely) if not then it is the switch

RE: Fan Switch problem
Hi. Started to get access, so I can test fan switch. Have removed two screws from bottom of panel.
(under radio) Removed clock, and removed single screw. Unable to easly remove panel around the top vents. Is this a pop out, Or are there screws? Thank-you in advance. Tom 2002 Black Accord 4 Door Auto, w/ 75,000 miles |
RE: Fan Switch problem
Check this out, it should be VERY similar to your car (the 2000 that is)

RE: Fan Switch problem
it could also be a bad blower resistor.,,, I have seen a lot of those go bad and not too may switches
|
RE: Fan Switch problem
It's most likely the blower resisters. It's very rare to see a bad fan switch on a honda.

RE: Fan Switch problem
And...
Those resistors are added in stages. Its absolutely CLASSIC for a bad resistor, when it works on all higher speeds & doesn't work on lower speeds. |
RE: Fan Switch problem
I found that the fan switch is ok. Where would I look for the resistor (s) ?
Are they under dash, or hood? 2002 Accord 76000 (took 700 mile roadtrip over Hoilday Runs Great) Thanks Tom |
RE: Fan Switch problem
they are located on the blower motor itself I believe
