Hi, I just purchased a Honda so I am new to this site and I appreciate any advice and help.

I just purchased a 08 Accord LX sedan 2.4 MT and want to install a set of OEM fog lights. However, my local dealer tells me that the honda fog light kits can only be retrofitted with the EX series. Their guess is that possibly the LX is not prewired to accept the fog light kit connection.

I am hoping to find out if the LX is wired to accept the fog light kit and if so, I would like to find a set of installation instructions. If not, I would really appreciate any advice regarding options or other fog light kits which may work.

 

Go to an OEM parts site like hondapartsnow [dot] com. After you enter your car's information to get parts, select the accessories section, and select the 08 accord.

You will see the fog light kit is for the EX, but there is a pdf of the installation instructions. The installation seems to be pretty involved even for the EX.

I would guess that you won't have the wiring harness to plug into, so you would likely have to run your own wires. With the instructions, you would be able to see if your LX has that existing wiring harness.

 

Thanks for the advice and the website. I knew the install would require removal of the front bumper etc but I was hoping to plug into the existing harness.

I took a quick look tonight but did not see the plug in described in the instructions. I'll take a closer look this weekend when I have more time but looks like the LX does not include the add'l wiring.

If I decide to do the install, I'll try to take pictures and describe the project, including new wiring and post the results.

Any thoughts about a good aftermarket alternative since I need to cut into the bumper and run my own wires anyway? Thanks again

Took a look today and confirmed that the 08 LX is not prewired for fog lights.

Oh well, I guess I'll see what other options are out there.

 

Or you could wire them up yourself... Not to complicated to do... Shouldnt take more than an hour or two...

 

Well, got the fog lights installed!! A little more involved than I expected. Not so much due to removing the bumper etc but for the wiring. Wound up buying an aftermarket kit instead of OEM and actually think it was a better move because it came with all the brackets, wiribg diagram and a dash mounted swith which looks really close to OEM.

If anyone else has interest, I can provide more details and pics.

Is it possible to put a front bumper of a ex-L v6 on a LX?? see i too want fog lights and was thinking maybe it fits.....anyone can help with this question?

 

My guess would be most likely yes. When I researched the foglights, the site says they fit other accord trims including the EX-L V6. Also the bumpers look the same to me and the installation instructions are the same. Please see link.
