Default Front and Rear Upper control arms

This is a repost question:
I need to replace the following.

Upper Control Arm w/ball joint (front left) and ball joints (upper rear left). Went for alignment and Firestone told me i need to replace those. Want to charge me 641.32 for the parts and services.

I want to buy parts and do it on my own.

How hard it is? and what kind of tools?

how long will it take????

this is a one person or two person job??

thanks guy.

The online manuals thread in the DIY section has a spooner link I posted in there. You can download a 94 shop manual that will lay out the details on how to do it.

You may also want a second opinion on the rear suspension. Try to find an independent shop that specializes in Hondas or foreign cars.

Check the upper control arm (#5, 6) for yourself. Lift & support the front of the car on stands - don't use just a jack when you stick your arms into the wheel well. Is the balljoint actually loose or is it just that the rubber boot (#9) is torn?

Similar, the rear upper balljoint comes with the arm #30, 32. Is the balljoint loose or just a torn boot?

Separate the tapered stud from the knuckle, work the balljoint around to feel if it moves smoothly. If it grinds, or if it's got any looseness, then you need a new one. If it works well, you can pack it with grease & put on a new rubber boot.
