Check DIY forum for "iacv" and cleaning procedure. This is typically problem w/ low idle.

good luck

And look for a post about setting the "base idle".

after running out of ideas I finally decided and went for the new egr valve, and the good news...cel went away! but...the feel of stalling when coming to a stop was still there.
I then cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner, and still no diference...SOo I changed the valve cover gasket and spark plugs and to my surprise, problem fixed!
Now Im just wondering where the the car should idle when on, and on (p)park? And when changed to (d)drive while holding the brake because, their little diferent.
But what a great weekend. Thank-you for your help/time and suggestions. Now to finish off with sparkplug wires and cap tomorrow and hopefully no more surprises...

First, glad you got it

To answer your question, the book I have says 770 rpm's with a +/- of 50 in both N and in D4, so if it is in this range you are good, there will be "some" difference between N and D4....finish the other work before trying to adjust this. Also, before adjusting, I'd clean the IAC and the port to it.

I had this problem, too, my RPM getting as low as 100. I just tightened the throttle, and I don't recall it getting lower than 800 since. (It's really easy - just a few semi-turns of a nut, actually).
(Never had a code light up, though, so I never looked further).
