Default Gas pedal slack/throttle tightening? 2005 hybrid

Hey how's it goin', just got my 2005 Accord V6 Hybrid, everything's great on it, only issue is that the gas pedal seems to have a few cms of travel before it engages the throttle. I was wondering if someone could give me a detailed description of how to take the slack out of the gas pedal so it responds immediately upon pressing. Thanks

It's got a motorized throttle, so don't look for a throttle cable that goes to the throttle body. Here's a picture of the "accelerator sensor". Not sure, but I think it's mounted on the firewall in the engine compartment, forward of the passenger seat.

Look for excessive slack in the cable. If there's an adjustment, DON'T take out ALL of the slack. It needs to go just a bit slack when you release the accelerator pedal.

If the physical cable isn't very slack, then maybe that's just the way the hybrid is. I never drove a hybrid Accord, but there's a couple regulars around here who have them. I'll change the thread title to attract their attention.

Starps, I got a used 2005 HAH two years ago, so I'm in the same boat with you as far as knowing whether the pedal's relative lack of responsiveness is by design or is a wear-and-tear side defect. I know it it lacks responsiveness because I drive rentals sometimes. I guess the lack might be due the fact that there's a lot of computer processing going on when you press on the pedal to determine how the battery-powered motor should be engaged. It also prevents you from "hard accelerating", maybe.

Yea I'm aware it's DBW...even so I'll take it to my buddy who works at honda. If nothing can be done about the cable I'll just retrofit some sort of stopper on the pedal to make it rest at the point of throttle engagement. Either way I WILL get this done lol

You may still be able to adjust the cable so there is very little slack in the cable gong to the accelerator position sensor.

My TSX has DBW and you can take up slack in the cable. The accord should be the same.

Just don't quite remove ALL the slack in the cable. I think it needs to close completely, even at different temperatures, summer, winter, etc.

The free play should be between 9/16 and 11/16 of an inch on the exposed cable. That cable will be between the adjuster bolt and the app sensor.
